The Movement as Medicine Method

with Mariana Castaneda-Lopez
November 19th-22nd
10am-5pm

The Movement as Medicine Method is a combination of many different movement modalities and somatics creating a revolutionary system that has generated results across my 10+ years of teaching group movement classes. It rests on the principle that how we relate to our bodies is how we relate to the world around us. When we understand movement as medicine we can show up fully for ourselves and our lives, because we know that we embody the potential to heal.

This teacher training is for people who teach movement (yoga, Pilates, group fitness, dance, etc.) and know that their impact reaches beyond helping people feel fit. This is for the instructors who want to reach the whole person and use movement as a medicine… to empower, to challenge, to grow, to heal, to transform.

This training will take place across 4 days, 6 hours each. On days 1 & 2, the first 3 hours will be dedicated to theory, philosophy, foundational concepts. Then the last 3 hours of the day will be learning movements to apply the pedagogy. Day 3 will include learning self massage techniques.
Day 4 will be practice teaching.

You’ll walk away with new movement tools, vision and language to hold space with both rigor and compassion as the medicine of movement carries your students into new depths of body wisdom.

Mariana Castaneda-Lopez

Mariana is a trained dancer with a BA in dance and philosophy from Goucher College (Baltimore, MD, USA) with concentrations in dance science and dance movement therapy. In 2014 Mariana completed her training in Pilates Apparatus, Pilates Mat and Pilates-based strength training under Body&Soul Bodyworks, NYC. Soon after she found reiki and massage. With that combination she immediately had insight into the energetic and subconscious aspects of physical tensions and dis-eases in the body. Functional neurology and breathwork help her to connect tangible and intangible components of health with science. Additionally, Mariana has studied somatics, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Wúo Taï, Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist. Mariana sees through all of these lenses. The combinations that she makes with each modality utilized allows her to work authentically and with integrity. She holds space for the inner wisdom of your body. She helps you see that you are already whole. That’s where healing comes from. Whole harmony.
