Wednesday, March 8th -- Teletextile Sound Bath & Reiki

Pamela Martinez with guests Andrew Hoepfner and Cat Martino

Teletextile has many co-creators. Teletextile is an expression where sounds become threads in a fabric that’s fluidly changing with each person's shape and identity.

For this sound bath I’m bringing together a team of musicians and healers to create an immersive ritual healing. My goal is for you to leave the sound bath being lulled open to your life experience as a vibrational force of a co-created symphony.

Let this be a time to unearth parts of yourself and express yourself. What you can expect: We will open with a reading and short description about sound as healing and continue with some light movements and vocalizations. These are optional but highly encouraged. Then you can lay back and relax while soaking in the acoustic healing sounds of crystal singing bowls, stringed instruments, drones, gongs and vocals.

During sound soaking there will be optional Reiki to receive by touch or hands off if desired.

Pamela Martinez is a reiki master, teacher, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who creates music under the moniker Teletextile.  Her “Bjork-like" sound (The Boston Globe) moves from vocal layering and “electronic wizardry” (Metronome Magazine) to “dense, stormy guitar, piano and electronics" (Time Out New York). Martinez has toured extensively in the US, Europe, the UK and Asia.  As a genre-hopping musician, Martinez has performed violin at Carnegie Hall with a Carnatic Indian music ensemble, sang in San Francisco's historic Fillmore Theater and takes part in extravagant performance art happenings in New York City.  At home in Brooklyn, Martinez passes on the craft of music to her community by teaching violin, voice, piano, guitar, music theory and sound healing to all ages and levels of students at Brooklyn Music School and the Maha Rose Community.

Andrew Hoepfner is a playwright and musician based in Brooklyn. He is the creator of Houseworld, an immersive theater experience, and the co-creator of Whisperlodge, a live ASMR experience. Andrew has toured the world in various bands and has collaborated on previous works with Young Jean Lee, Shilpa Ray, Cesar Alvarez, and David Byrne.
Cat Martino is a yoga instructor and the frequent music collaborator with Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, The Shins, Sharon Van Etten and others. Martino concocts a mesmerizing set of sound embraced by a voice at once fractured and full of strength, creating an aurally and visually vivid energy. Her work explores body centered musicality and her path as a dancer healing her own injuries and raising physical vibrations through sound.
