Supriya Lay

Supriya Lay

Supriya Desai Lay is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist who obtained an M.S. in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College New York in 2013, graduating top of her class.  She is certified by the NCCAOM as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. She joined the field of Chinese Medicine after three years of consulting following the completion of her international economics degree from The George Washington University. After encouragement from her physician parents, Supriya embarked on the path to becoming an acupuncturist in order to make a substantial difference in people's lives each day, and she has never looked back since!

As a self-proclaimed people person, her compassionate treatment style emphasizes personal communication with patients coupled with successful clinical results. Supriya also stresses co-accountability and treatment plan or herbal compliance, as the path to healing is truly a partnership between practitioner and patient.  Her personal motto is that one only has one life as this particular unique being, so it's important to make the most of each and every day, and she carries this energy and enthusiasm into her work… each and every day!

After graduating in 2013, Supriya moved halfway across the country to Kansas with her husband and started two thriving practices while also working with the state organization to successfully obtain Kansas acupuncture licensure. She and her husband have recently moved back to Brooklyn and are both enjoying being closer to family.

 Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine:

Supriya provides traditional acupuncture practiced primarily in the Kiiko Matsumoto Style (KMS) and Chinese herbal therapy, successfully treating a variety of ailments, while specializing in digestive issues, chronic pain, mental health, and women's health.

Through her style of acupuncture, which emphasizes hands-on palpation of the abdomen, hands, and feet, her patients’ bodies guide her treatment, thus allowing Supriya to get to the root (or constitutional) cause of imbalance.  Her goal is to bring her patients more into balance internally as well as externally, with their surrounding environment, bringing yin into balance with yang and vice versa.  She loves to spend time with her patients, truly hear their concerns, and most importantly, educate her patients by explaining her treatment approach, so they feel empowered to make consistent lifestyle changes to better support their healing.

Through a brief intake session and thorough hands-on palpation, she works to personalize her care based on each individual’s unique pattern and presentation.  In doing so, Supriya will utilize acupuncture as well as gua sha, cupping, moxabustion, and Chinese herbal supplement prescription as needed based on one’s presentation and particular ailment.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture:

(Please note that Supriya recommends booking an Initial Visit Acupuncture session with her before booking a Facial Rejuvenation session, so she can know her clients' health history in advance.)

Supriya also provides Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture with facial massage. This treatment involves the insertion of fine acupuncture needles on the body and face and treats the body systemically, focusing on internal, or root imbalances that manifest outwardly on the face as wrinkles, sagging, puffiness, or discoloration. These luxurious treatments involve full body acupuncture, facial acupuncture, an herbal facial mask, and facial massage, all with an organic product line.

Typically, after 4-5 treatments the patient’s response to treatments will be assessed and the treatment plan revised. Though there are no guaranteed results and treatments are not considered a facial lift by any means, after approximately 8-10 treatments, expected results might be a reduction in fine lines and puffiness, tighter pores, an even skin tone, and an overall more radiant facial complexion. Often maintenance treatments (1-2 times per month) are conducted after that point.

Chinese medicine is an exciting lens to view health and wellness and whether you're looking for preventative health measures or treatment for a specific ailment, Supriya looks forward to embarking on this partnership of health with you!

"Supriya is a consummate acupuncturist and well knows the work. She was able to feel the energies in my body and uses such a deft hand. I have experienced over a dozen different acupuncturists over the years, and Supriya ranks on my list as my all-time favorite and most accomplished.” – L.K.

“I was at a point in my life where my bulging discs in my neck were causing so much pain that the only option was surgery... though I was a skeptic, I thought I would try acupuncture. Wow, did it change my outlook on life!...Supriya took time to listen to my issues and always gave me the best treatment to make me feel like a new person, whether it was cupping, gua sha or needles.  She is a very empathetic and compassionate person.” – D.P.

"Supriya and I worked specifically on migraine headache management and prevention, stress management, and living free of medication. It’s totally appropriate to say that Supriya changed my life.  I didn’t know what “normal” or “healthy” felt like before I met her.  Supriya’s healing spirit touched me; mind, body, and soul.” – J. H.
