The Listening School with Allen Watts

Somatic Yoga

In these body-mind yoga workshop, participants will be guided through practices that allow for the first-hand exploration of select theories from psychoanalytic theorists and somatic luminaries such as Wilhelm Reich, Swami Satyananda Saraswati and Deborah Taj Anapol.  The class structure will include a short lecture and allow time for practitioners to know a bit about one another, have open discussions about their practice, and hopefully leave with not only an oceanic feeling, but also new friends, and new ideas to elevate our knowledge of how yoga and meditation technologies can operate within our own bodies.

$18 per session. Cash at the door

Bio:  Allen Watts is a scholar of the chakras and body-mind integration.  He is currently pursuing a self-directed degree in Psychic Liberation from UMass Amherst via Brooklyn, and is also in the midst of yoga teacher training with Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.  He is the founder of The Listening School.  The Listening School believes that yoga education can be cumulative and that students can be empowered in their own practice rather than perpetually dependent on master teachers.  Our bodies are intelligent; they speak constantly through habits, somatic impressions, mood swings, and the other myriad animations we experience each day.  Yoga practice is a unique opportunity to listen to these testimonies, celebrate them and learn from ourselves.
