Are you feeling overwhelmed by all that’s happening? Are there only so many face masks you can do? Are you beginning to feel anxiety, restlessness, trapped? Tonglen practice, also known as “giving and taking” reverses our usual logic of avoiding suffering and seeking pleasure. In tonglen practice, we visualize taking in the pain of others and sending out whatever will benefit them on the out-breath. In the process, we begin to feel love for both ourselves and others; we begin to take care of ourselves and others.
Tala Barbotin is a certified 200h Meditation Teacher, taught in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. A French Lebanese import born in Paris, she came to meditation as a way to relieve anxiety and stress, but then discovered its potential as a powerful practice to address emotional trauma and as a tool to recondition the mind. She believes in a gentle but effective teaching method and in leaving her students feeling challenged and glowing at the end of class. Tala is currently studying an 18 course curriculum centered on Buddhist teachings with the Asian Classics Institute at Three Jewels in New York; and is working to incorporate meditation and mindfulness techniques in a variety of different community projects. She currently teaches meditation at Three Jewels NY, and Good Move.
