Card of the Week: May 18, 2015

Oh hail King of Cups! You are welcome here. Air of water, you are both in and of the emotional landscape that binds us together. Ruling the latter half of Libra and the first half of Scorpio, our King of Cups floats atop the ocean surface, equanimous and even at his best and easily imposed upon and influenced at his worst. He needs his respite to recollect himself and little do we know what goes on beneath his surface.

Like all Kings, the King of Cups shares space on the Tree of Life with the six of cups, the Lord of Pleasure. Sixes are the highest manifestation of each suit, and our Kings are also a beautiful emblem of that beauty. Cups represent desire, connection, relationship, and emotion. We share our cups with others and drink deeply together. This sharing is sacred and our King asks us to do so consciously. We can choose what it is we want to share, and most importantly we must be active participants in what we choose to “receive” from others.

If you feel like you have drunk of someone else’s cup--perhaps a cup filled with emotions that do not align with where you are and where you wish to go--then now is the time to anchor your throne beneath the mighty waters into the bedrock that lies beneath.
