Card of the Week: April 21, 2015

Our dearest Eight of Cups. A beautiful piscean card that carries with it the quiet whispers of dark water that calls us to go deeper.

Named the “Lord of Abandoned Success” by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the Eight of Cups is about giving up something completely...because IT IS NOT SERVING YOU. This is an important element of the card to understand and even celebrate. Walking away is not proof of failure or a sign of weakness. On the contrary, when the world grows very quiet around you and you turn towards the beauty of your inner landscape, you have the opportunity to see and hear what is truly nourishing for your soul.

This is what the Eight of Cups asks of us this week. Cultivate your courage, attend to your trust or lack there of, and know that you do not need to fill your cup with what is “supposed to be good for you”. On the contrary, take a moment to walk into the spring this week and drink of that which is refreshing and rejuvenating for you.

Cups are giving and receiving--from empty to full to empty again, they are the receptacle and conduit at once. Walking away from a course of action, a habitual way of thinking, or a situation requires courage and trust. So go to it. The spring is smiling around you.

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” Maya Angelou
