October 13, Tarot Card of the Week: The Sun reversed

This week’s card—like last week’s—is a Major Arcana card in a reversed position. There are only 22 Major Arcana cards in the Tarot (out of 78 cards total), so when a Major Arcana card comes out in a spread, it asks us to turn up the volume and listen to a larger lesson. In this case, the Sun card reversed turns our attention to our health, our energy, and our eternal spirit.

Last week’s eclipse and the ongoing trajectory of Mercury in retrograde has given many moments of pause for us…slowing us down to go over the details, forcing us to confront some of the deeper elements in our subconscious that perhaps we have conveniently ignored or placed on a back burner. The Sun card reversed speaks to the exhaustion we might be feeling because of this work, it speaks to the need to slow down and be gentle to ourselves as we confront the big things that Mercury and the Lunar eclipse have brought to the forefront.

The Sun card reminds us to seek out that which truly nourishes us. What turns on your inner sun? —What lights  up your spirit for all to see? The Sun at its best, radiates warmth and illuminates darkness. It is our life giver and shines upon the Fool reborn in this particular card. So choose the things in this life that actually nourish your light, not drain it away. Treat yourself as the beautiful child you are, and enjoy the elements on this earth that help you grow, be it emotionally, physically, intellectually, or spirituality. Remember that you are not alone. The sun is shining upon you, and actually, it’s shining inside you too.
